Is there anyway to increase the limit of how much a Code or Quote BBCode box can hold before it decides to print: [code:1:855313ef0a] and then half the post, without closing the tags... which is very awkward indeed!

It is useful for a lot of php forum users building demo forums to post the entire install file, and some are very extensive... which is where this mod certainly has its advantages! Smile

Regards,
Marcus

On a further note... I've noticed that someone on one site posted the entire Install Readme for the PCP mod in one set on [code] tags... yet mine would not allow this within one post...

Yup! This is probably a problem with your PHP settings.

Checkout the post_max_size parameter here:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.sect.data-handling.php

If you have problems, try to contact your hosting provider. Wink

Hmmm in truth I have no idea what any of that means...

But in my ACP > Tool > PHP Info page it says: 55M

Is this any good?

Thanks,
Marcus

That seems to be much more than enough. In my installation post_max_size is set to 20M.

However, it might be related to some other setting (Apache/PHP/MySQL).

Have you tried to see which is the limit? ...how many characters are you able to post before getting this result? ...does the "preview" post feature shows the correct result, but not on submit?

Yes, the preview always displays fine... its the actual submitted post that displays haywire... Confused

So, how many characters are you able to post?

It might also be related to a MySQL limit:

THE PCP Install text is 89,429 characters long (with spaces).

Inside a [quote] box will only display 62,768 characters (with spaces) inside a collapsible frame.

The [code] box screws up, displaying no collapsible frame... with only 54,527 characters (with spaces) from the same document.

It starts with:

[code:1:cf085ba5a9]

Then prints loads of the code... as a normal post, with the end cut off...

Maybe that's a problem with the limits in the MySQL TEXT data type.

According to this page:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Storage_requirements.html

The TEXT data type allows up to 65534 bytes (length+2 < 2^16).

But, it also says about to the MyISAM type:

Code:
The maximum size of a row in a MyISAM table is 65,534 bytes.

So that leaves 2 options:
1) Split the text into 2 or more posts.
2) Use another MySQL storage engine (for instance, InnoDB):
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Storage_engines.html
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/InnoDB.html

Thank you, I appreciate knowing the problem/solution and I will make sure those people also having this problem in Integramod are aware of this. Smile

On the same subject of these collapsible frames...

Is there any way to control their width, as when mine appear, they stretch the page width, resulting in an unwanted bottom scrollbar. I would very much like to "fix" their width to be slightly less than that of the viewtopic frame.

Regards,
Marcus
