Subscribers notified of spam comment

Hello,

When someone is subscribed to a post they receive notifications of comments made to it (the subscriptions module enabled of course). What I am seeing is that if a spammer makes a comment, a notification goes out to the post subscribers, then if Akismet deletes the comment and the subscribers click on the e-mail notifications link they are taken to a non-existent comment. While not a big deal it is confusing to a user, and annoying if a post gets hit by many spam comments.

I am looking into what can be done about this myself, but support would be helpful in any way. Also, I'm posting this topic to document the problem.
