Hi, I really like this mod, but when someone quotes someone elses quote, it compleatly messes up the forums, how do I adjust this Mod so it only works on code and not quotes?

Hmm it works here but on my forums it compleatly screws everything up when someone quotes someone elses quotes. And yes everythings installed correctly I used ezmod.

How do I remove the select/expand mod from quotes?

see here to see what I mean.

There must be a conflict with some of your MODs. You have a lot of MODs, so that's a real possibility. Smile If the [code] tag works, try to compare with the [quote] tag.

Look at bbcode.tpl

Not sure when you looked at my link but I had attempted to remove the mod from quotes only which I did ok, but I screwed up the code part so I kust restored the backup so now Im back to where I was (with the messed up quote, the first time someone quotes somebody it works fine, its just when that quote is quoted that everything gets screwed, it may be because I use a talk bubble in the virw topic, and that may be the problem, if I can just remove the mod from quotes Id be ok.

To remove the thingy for the [quote] tag, you only need to "touch" the bbcode.tpl file.

Post here the backup of your bbcode.tpl BEFORE applying the Select Expand MOD, and I'll to look at it for you. Wink

the problem is I may have added other things to it since installing this mod. But I dont remember.

Heres what it looks like now, I fixed it so it looks nice Smile as ezmod kinda slops everything together.

Code:

<!-- BEGIN ulist_close --></ul><!-- END ulist_close -->

<!-- BEGIN olist_open --><ol type="{LIST_TYPE}"><!-- END olist_open -->

What about these line that were added to the includes/bbcode.php file, should I delete them? Thanks for your help

Code:

   $bbcode_tpl['quote_open'] = str_replace($expand_ary1, $expand_ary2, $bbcode_tpl['quote_open']);
   $bbcode_tpl['quote_username_open'] = str_replace($expand_ary1, $expand_ary2, $bbcode_tpl['quote_username_open']);

   $bbcode_tpl['quote_close'] = str_replace($expand_ary3, $expand_ary4, $bbcode_tpl['quote_close']);

Wait, wait. Don't give up, yet. Wink

Looking at the viewsource of your viewtopic page:
Quote:
quote test number 1<S#c#r#i#p#t type="text/J#ava##Scrip#t">
<!--
document.write('</div>');
//-->
</S#c#r#i#p#t>

Find who's inserting those symbols and you'll solve the problem.

Hints: The guilty might be somewhere in include/bbcode.php, or some other MOD rewriting the template output....

Hi I think I got it Smile I removed all adjustments to the quote areas in the tpl, and removed the three lines that were added to the bbcode.php

These lines:
$bbcode_tpl['quote_open'] = str_replace($expand_ary1, $expand_ary2, $bbcode_tpl['quote_open']);
$bbcode_tpl['quote_username_open'] = str_replace($expand_ary1, $expand_ary2, $bbcode_tpl['quote_username_open']);

$bbcode_tpl['quote_close'] = str_replace($expand_ary3, $expand_ary4, $bbcode_tpl['quote_close']);

and everything seems ok, nothing in the select_expand_bbcodes.js file will go crazy without the quote stuff will it?

I had my server shut down do to a few lose scripts. Wouldnt want to piss them off again Embarassed

Hi, I did that I censored that line so it would always look like this:
<S#c#r#i#p#t type="text/J#ava##Scrip#t"> (I added the #'s)
I did it useing the word sensor that comes with phpbb to make sure that nobody would post java script in a post at my forums, cause I posted 2 javascripts trying to show people how to do some things and it turned out the just posting the javascript RAN the java script, my Host shut my site down is minutes after posting those scripts and said that I caused a server overload, They let me back online and I deleted the posts and everything went back to normal, so I made it so <S#c#r#i#p#t type="text/J#ava##Scrip#t"> would appear anytime someone posted a java script so they wouldnt get me shut down.

I didnt know that simply posting a script RAN the script.

Nope. The javascript code does not know about quote, code or whatever. It's generic so it can be easily reused, with other blocky BBCodes like PHP Syntax Highlighter, etc.

If you ever find out the problem with the quote tag, you'll find documented in this MOD script which sections apply to which BBCodes.

Cheers

Ok cool thanks for your help Very Happy
The mod worked fine, I think it just didnt like my talk bubble Sad
I have it set up good now, the quotes are normal and the code is with your mod, I didnt know that posting a javascript RAN the javascript...many times, thats a pretty bad flaw dont you think?
